2011 Summer Virginia Homecoming

It was near the end of summer break, I took them to Virginia visiting relatives and friends. It was also good to show the boys where I went to high school and show them DC area.

A couple of days in DC:
We took the metro to the Smithsonian Station, then visited American History Museum, Natural History Museum, and met Ian's classmate from Shanghai in Space Museum. It was really hot and exhausting day!

Of all the times that I visited Washington D.C., I never went to Georgetown for some reason. Ian had a play-date with a friend from Shanghai school in Georgetown, so we used the opportunity to look around the area. Unfortunately the famous canal cruise was shut down for renovation, so we could only walk around the main streets.

Went to Newport News & Williamsburg to visit family & friends:
The weather suddenly reminded me a lot of Shanghai, 9 o'clock in the morning and it was already hot, humid, and hazy. Kids weren't really that into American history so didn't want to explore much of the Colonial Williamsburg. If it weren't for the candy shop in the Merchant Square, we wouldn't have walked around at all.
