DAY 8: A day along Rhine River
- Started at Rudesheim, followed sign to cable car to Niederwalddenkmak Monument. Cable car ride was over large field of grape vines which was very interesting. The view at the top was also breathtaking.
- IZ really like Currywurst, the german sausage with currey sauce which turns out to be ketchup with curry powder
- Took ferry across Rhine to Bacharach which is a very small town. Found a parking off pebble street and had ice cream break before continuing on foot toward the castle up on the hill which turned out to be a hostel. Passed by an church ruin on the way down.
- Continue to take ferry back to Kaub, and took a closer view of the a castle on a small island in the middle of Rhine
- Continue driving north, at Loreley took a view of Rhine again.
- Many old castles, churches, quaint towns aligned Rhine River. The last stop before we head to the castle hotel was a beer break near Krone.
- Took another ferry across to Boppard for a great view of Rhine River turning about 360degree
- Ferry back to Marksburg for a grand tour of the castle
- Arrived at Deutsches Eck (German Corner) Koblenz area and walked along the river for some lunch and view
- Went to the cable car station near for overlook of the German Corner and surrounding area
- Passing by Borne to drop off a luggage for a friend. Didn't have anytime to visit anywhere else
- Arrived at R's house in Leverkusen north of Cologne before dinner. Dinner at a Thai place nearby
- R sent us to the local train to Cologne downtown to visit the Cologne Cathedral (Dom) and downtown area
- Very nice walk along the river and downtown to/from the Chocolate Museum
- Came home in the afternoon a BBQ dinner at home
- Arrived at another friend's house in the surburn of
- After homecooked lunch, visited small downtown of Tecklenburg. Great coffee at this charming little town.
- Dinner at home and more drinking at night
- After checking into BNB in Hamburg, I took IZ to Miniatur Wunderland while M went to drop off his car at shipping lot
- In the afternoon took a cruise around warehouse district
